Cannot read anything from MyKad after the smartphone or tablet wakes up from sleep, though reading was okay before the sleep.

So far, this is found to happen on Android 4.0.4. If this happens, please press the Android back button to quit the CI application, then physically disconnect the smartcard reader from the smartphone or tablet. Now connect it back to the smartphone or tablet. After these, start the CI application again.

One way to minimize this inconvenience is to configure Android to make it sleep after a longer idle time. We are considering an equivalent workaround, which makes Android stay awake as long as the CI application is running. This workaround may be introduced in a later update. All updates are free.

The problem lies in the reader driver that the CI application uses, so it is unfortunate that we have to rely on a workaround for the time being.

Android does not ask for user permission to access the USB smartcard reader, and pressing the read button of the CI application does not give rise to anything.

Make sure the USB smartcard reader is connected to the USB socket of the smartphone or tablet first, and then launch the CI ShowKad, CI SaveKad or CI VoteKad application. Connecting the reader after application launching will not work, as reader detection is done during application startup.

Is my own smartcard reader supported?

We highly recommend using CI ShowKad, CI SaveKad and CI VoteKad with the reader we are selling. It is an ACR38U-PocketMate from Advanced Card Systems Ltd. Readers of other brands or models may or may not be supported by the embedded driver.
