FingKad Privacy Policy

FingKad collects location data to enable Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) communications with the card reader ACR3901U, even when the app is not in use.

Above is the description mandated by Google for any app that uses BLE. Let us explain what actually happens.

FingKad uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) to talk to the card reader, to read name, IC number and fingerprints etc from the MyKad chip.

Because BLE is activated, Android will feed location data in the background to FingKad. This is mandatory for BLE to work. The location data has absolutely no use to FingKad. It is not stored anywhere in FingKad, and never shared by FingKad.

If you are concerned, we suggest that after using FingKad for fingerprint verification, simply swipe it away from the Android task list. This makes sure the FingKad process completely stops, so Android will stop feeding it with location data.
